About Lecturer.
Thathmi Samarakoon is a dedicated Kids Robotics Lecturer at the Sri Lankan Institute of Robotics (SLIR), where she mentors students across Kids, Junior, and Senior levels. With a strong foundation in Software Engineering and Electronic Systems, she brings expertise in software development, web technologies, and advanced programming concepts to her students.
She holds a BSc with Honours in Software Engineering from Birmingham City University, UK, and holds a B.Sc. in Electronic and Embedded Systems at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Additionally, she is following an MPhil in Software Engineering at IICC University, further strengthening her research and technical expertise.
Thathmi has earned certifications in Introduction to Cyber Security, Network Switching & Routing, and Android Application Development from recognized institutions like CISCO Networking Academy and Udacity. Her technical skills extend to a wide range of programming languages, including Java, Python, C, PHP, and JavaScript, as well as frameworks like Spring Boot, Laravel, and React.js.
Beyond software development, Thathmi has hands-on experience in building e-commerce platforms, POS systems, and mobile applications, showcasing her ability to integrate software solutions with real-world applications. Her background also includes practical exposure to microservices architecture, cloud computing, and database management systems like MySQL and Firebase.
At SLIR, Thathmi is committed to fostering innovation and hands-on learning, ensuring that students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to excel in the ever-evolving fields of robotics, software engineering, and technology. Her leadership skills, honed during her academic and professional career, further enhance her ability to guide and inspire students to achieve their full potential.
